1. Yorkies Started as Working-Class Heroes

Once upon a time, these glamorous dogs were the fearless rat chasers of Victorian England. Far from the high life of canine fashion, Yorkies were the small but mighty exterminators in textile mills.

Back then, they didn’t sport bows and ribbons but were rather the secret weapons keeping the factories clean. They were also used as ratters on ships and farms too. Their sleuth-sized bodies and sharp instincts made them perfect for the job.

2. Size Really Doesn’t Matter

You’d think their small size would make them timid, but think again! Yorkies pack a punch in their tiny bodies. Despite weighing only about 7 pounds, these dogs stand up with a big personality and have outrageous bravery.

Consider them the catapult-sized warriors of the canine world!

Though Toto in the movie The Wizard of Oz was a Cairn Terrier in the book he was a Yorkie.

Yorkies have been cast in lots of movies over the years.

It’s no surprise that Yorkies have found themselves in some of the world’s most elite company. Thanks to their portable size and adorable demeanor, they’re a jet-setting favorite among celebrities like Paris Hilton and Hilary Duff.

Whether flying in first-class comfort or tucked safely in pet totes, Yorkies have been to more places at 35,000 feet than most of us could dream.
